A Hidden Gem for Kaiseki and Omakase - On Par with Japan (IMO) Just discovered Eigikutei, and I'm already raving about it. Apparently, they've only been open for 2 years, but the level of quality they maintain is seriously impressive. I went with some friends, and we opted for the Omakase Sushi Kaiseki Cuisine Course, adding some sake and a yuzu highball to the mix. First impressions: the ambiance is immaculate--extremely clean and tidy, and the servers are in traditional-looking garb. The service was incredibly friendly and polite. I will admit it felt a little self-conscious at first since we were the only ones there right at opening, and the space is so open and quiet. But honestly, that's more a testament to the serene atmosphere they've cultivated, and certainly not a fault. Now, the food. For those not in the know, Kaiseki is a multi-course style menu that emphasizes a wide range of ingredients and cooking techniques. Each course we were served had very clear, distinctive flavors and a beautiful variety of textures. You can really tell they emphasize seasonal ingredients, simple seasoning, and beautiful presentation (as their website suggests). Of the Kaiseki offerings, the monkfish liver was my personal favorite. It had a luxurious texture and, surprisingly, no strong fishy scent whatsoever. As for the sushi omakase, every piece was amazing, but my personal favorites were a tie between the seared mackerel, a hard-to-find snapper whose name eludes me (oops!), and the uni. The uni we got was on the creamier side, and only had a hint of oceanic brininess compared to what I am used to. I loved it! Honestly, this was one of my favorite eating experiences in a while and easily on par with the nicer omakase/course menu places I've visited in Japan. If you're looking for a refined and authentic Japanese dining experience, Eigikutei is a must-try. Just be prepared to take your time and savor every bite. You can tell that the team here is tight-knit and passionate, from the selected ingredients that emphasize "umami," to the Japanese hospitality that seeks to put a smile on every customer's face. This spot is the real deal.
Came here to celebrating my husbands birthday during lunch. It didn't have a lot of patrons, I hope this place has more business. We did a Shabu and snow crab. Great service, in their photos they always show the whole meal but they course out the meal. Chill environment, large space. Seems good for a small gathering.
Omg where do I start?! Eigikutei was by far one of the best dining experiences I've had in Little Tokyo. I came here for my birthday dinner and we got the Menkoi set which was $155 per person. Each person received 3 appetizers, a soup, and we shared Shabu Shabu hot pot that came with A5 Yonezawa wagyu ribeye, assorted vegetables and pickles. At first I thought it wouldn't be enough food because each appetizer looked small but I was wrong. We were almost stuffed by the time the Shabu came out and was grappling by the end of the meal to finish the dessert. Not only did the food presentation exceed my expectations, the restaurant's ambiance was calming and quiet enough to hold a conversation, and the service provided by our waitress was truly impeccable. She was very detailed in how each dish was served and frequently checked in to see how we were doing. I've recommended this restaurant to friends and they have also raved about it.
a weekend dinner at eigikutei was an impeccable dining experience, and its price very well reflects that! the shabu-shabu kaiseki cuisine A5 miyazaki wagyu ribeye AI (藍) set that my partner and i ordered for our special occasion included three appetizers (simmered dish, vinegar dish, and aemono dish), a soup, a hot pot set for wagyu and vegetables (accompanied by ponzu sauce, sesame sauce, and a generous amount of scallions), some zousui and pickles, and a dessert. we thoroughly enjoyed the clean, delicate flavors of each dish. and as much as we loved the wagyu for its taste and tenderness, we found ourselves loving the zousui prepared from the leftover hotpot broth as well! as a rice-based soup, zousui may be interpreted as a japanese version of chinese congee. however, its flavor was more sweet than savory and its overall consistency was much thinner. by the end of the delicious multi-course meal, my partner and i felt perfectly satiated rather than uncomfortably full. portions were excellent. service was exceptional. the staff was incredibly attentive and courteous, pouring warm sake for us whenever they noticed our cups were getting empty and even periodically skimming scum from the hot pot broth! with their graceful, unobtrusive movements, the staff seamlessly blended in with eigikutei's calm wabisabi interior. meanwhile, the catlike robot busser appeared comically out of place. however, it did become increasingly endearing to me over the course of the meal. (we are living in the future...) aiso parking garage, located diagonally across the street from the establishment, made parking in little tokyo easy and affordable ($3 flat rate for the evening).
I took my wife to Eigikutei for Valentine's in Little Tokyo, and it was a memorable celebration. Their omakase experience offered an intimate setting. We did not opt for the chef's counter as we wanted to focus on each other for this particular occasion. The pacing was just right for a romantic evening--allowing time for conversation between courses while keeping the experience engaging. If you're looking to celebrate a special occasion with truly exceptional sushi in an intimate setting. One thing to note is that the tables are set up for shabu shabu too. So they're quite spaced out and the lighting is quite bright, which is nice for seeing the freshness of our food but it's definitely not your typical Italian candle light dinner style vibe if that's what you're looking for. The sashimi was exceptional--every slice had that perfect texture and freshness that shows they source top-quality fish. What I appreciated most was the thoughtful portioning--just enough to satisfy without feeling overwhelming, allowing us to enjoy the full progression of flavors. The chef's precision with the blowtorch for the aburi pieces was particularly impressive, creating that perfect sear while maintaining the delicate texture inside. One small disappointment was discovering my InKind promo wasn't eligible for weekend use when I tried to apply it for our Valentine's celebration. A minor hiccup in an otherwise perfect evening, but worth noting if you're planning a special weekend visit.
I've known about Eigikutei ever since the restaurant debuted its vegan kaiseki last year. The vegan kaiseki went viral on social media, and since then I've been looking for an opportunity to visit this restaurant. With my birthday right around the corner, I decided to come here for a group dinner with my friends. I made the reservation a few weeks in advance, and the restaurant was able to accommodate a table for 10. Our group came, coincidentally, on a rainy evening. We could place our umbrellas at the entrance. The restaurant had a feel of an upscale Japanese restaurant. There was a sushi counter for omakase, but also regular tables for shabu shabu. I saw the restaurant recently started serving sukiyaki, so I knew that's what I had to get. Initially I wasn't sure if I wanted vegan kaiseki or regular kaiseki, but once I saw sukiyaki I knew that was it. Some other people got sukiyaki also. My wife got yosenabe, seafood hot pot. A few other people got shabu shabu, and a few other people got a sushi set. I saw how traditional and amazing the appetizers were, so I asked the staff to add the appetizers to my sukiyaki course. The staff were incredibly polite and super attentive. The appetizer was a trio of vegetables, scallops, squid, and mozuku seaweed. The flavors were perfect and reminded me of a very traditional kaiseki dinner. For the appetizers, I also received a soup with crab meatball as well as chawanmushi. The chawamushi was amazing, and came with salmon roe and also fish. Salmon roe and savory egg custard were a match made in heaven. As my wife got yosenabe, she also had sashimi with her course. I tried the sashimi and it was absolutely amazing, melt in your mouth. Real wasabi was served. Of course for me, the main event was the sukiyaki. Served very traditionally with beef fat, then grilled beef before adding sauce. I then dipped my beef into egg and ate it with rice. The flavors were perfect. The sukiyaki also came with an array of vegetables, including scallions, shiitake, tofu, and enoki mushrooms, as well as shirataki noodles. At the very end, they put udon into the remaining sauce and serve udon with sukiyaki sauce. The meal was just amazing on every level. I tried a bit of my wife's rice porride and the hojicha pudding. The hojicha was amazing as well. For my birthday, the staff served me yuzu cheesecake with ice cream mochi and a variety of fruit. I love yuzu flavors, so the cheesecake was perfect. This was an amazing kaiseki restaurant, with food presented and prepared in a very traditional Japanese fashion without any drastic changes or innovations. One of my favorite upscale restaurants in LA, for sure.
Booked this place to come for my wifes birthday. YAWARAGI (和) - 3 Appetizers (Simmered dish & Vinegared dish & Aemono dish) Soup, Sashimi Plate, Oshinogi (Sushi)1 Dish (Steamed dish. Grilled dish or Deep-fried dish) 10 Pc. Omakase Sushi, Miso soup, Pickles & Dessert TSUKI (月) - 3 Appetizers (Simmered dish. Vinegared dish. Aemono dish) Soup1 Dish, Sashimi plate, Yosenabe, Porridge of rice, Pickles & Dessert I won't go into much detail on each individual plate and dish. What I can say is that the quality of the food is there and the freshness of the ingredients is great. What was lacking was the service. Every time we had a question about the menu the waitress looked absolutely clueless.
Great service! We came for DineLA $85 wagyu dinner. Food was fresh and nicely presented, with each new course explained. We thought we wouldn't be full but the meal ended with some porridge and dessert that definitely filled us up. We also ordered some sushi a la cart as well.
Hubby and I came here for Christmas lunch. We passed by this place a few times and was intrigued that they service Kaiseki style Japanese food. Kaiseki is a traditional Japanese multi-course meal with a series of small intricate meals Using seasonal ingredients and simple seasoning for aesthetic and balancing of flavors. Having dined at N/Naka I was really interested in trying a more affordable dining experience. The restaurant is very unassuming from the outside. It blends in with the rest of the block and you would never know what to expect until you walk in. The atmosphere is very serene and minimalistic. There is a strong earthly vibe with natural wood colored dining tables and aesthetics. Each table is spaced apart from the other tables rather than crammed together. I really enjoyed the service. It was the traditional Japanese cultured mannerism and professionalism I received in high end restaurants. They are very attentive and polite. The menu features a variety of choices that includes Kaiseki and choice of sushi, shabu shabu, etc. We chose the Tsuki combination $106 pp (a very good deal) - Kaiseki and seafood shabu shabu. The meal on 12/25/2024: Appetizer: Monkfish liver, spinach parsnip and sesame, and scallop with vegetables. Very flavorful and high quality ingredients. This was the best monkfish liver I've ever had. Soup: Fish dumpling soup. Was refreshing and light. Chiwanmushi- was delicious and had ikura! Sashimi - yellowtail, halibut and sweet shrimp. The quality of the fish was so fresh and tasty. There wasn't a fishy taste at all. Shabu - When the plate of the ingredients came out, I almost fainted due to the generous portions. It was a lot of food prepared! I really enjoyed that the crab was pre-cracked making it easier to eat. The shabu broth was so flavorful that we didn't need any dipping sauces. The meat and veggies soaked up the delicious broth and it was very tasty on its own. And if you didn't get enough food .... there was a filler coming up. Porridge rice - the porridge is made from the shabu broth and it is super delicious! We unfortunately could not finish so we asked for the porridge to go, after I had a few bites. Lastly, to finish off our meal..... Hoji pudding - chestnut pudding with red bean. The texture of the pudding was creamy and full of chestnut flavor. Overall, this was an amazing meal and for such a good price. Highly recommend it yelpers! Tabemashou!
